Street Sweepers -They do their Dirty Job

Am I the only one who happened to notice this? Several times I have seen the lone street sweeper come by our street and other streets in the neighborhood and leave the street dirtier than before he came. This is usually because there is no trash on the street or maybe one or two pieces and the dirty water from the sweeper muddies up the gutter and the edge of the street.

Other times it seems the sweeper had no water, or ran out of water so the gutter and edge of the street are left dirtier than before he “cleaned” the street. Of course it is possible that I am the only one who notices the dirty streets after the street sweeper makes his rounds.

I wonder how much it cost for the street sweeper to dirty up the street? Do they have such a strict time limit to get their specified area done that they don’t have time to fill up with water? Do they even care how clean the street looks after they “clean” it up?
